The Bryant Building property has played a major role in Lebanon’s history.  It is part of the old Cumberland University campus which in 1844, consisted of ten acres on the southern edge of town on the corner of now S. College Street and East Spring.  In 1847, the campus was enlarged by 7 ½ acres. The Civil War brought the destruction of this university building and the school relocated to its present-day site. After a time, the former campus was divided into lots and sold.  This site is Lot #1 of the subdivided campus and by 1897 a house was standing here.

In February 1965, Dr. Joe Frank Bryant bought the property and in 1966 constructed a medical office and pharmacy for his family practice which operated until 2011.  Also on this site was Bryant Broadcasting, INC, call letters WJFB.  The station ran from 1988 until 2015. Dr. Bryant was a noted surgeon, a TN Broadcaster and real estate investor.  His influence and contributions to Lebanon are still recognized today.
